AUCET 2004 General Information

1. The Andhra University Common Entrance Test (AUCET) shall be conducted for admission into various courses offered by Andhra University Colleges of Science & Technology, Arts & Commerce and Engineering, Visakhapatnam; A.U.M.S. Naicker P.G.Centre, Kakinada; A.U. Dr.B.R. Ambedkar P.G.Centre, Etcherla and Colleges affiliated to A.U. offering P.G. Courses for the academic year 2004-2005.

2. Candidates seeking admission into various courses of study for which tests are conducted should appear for the AUCET. (See Appendix-I).

3. Candidates who have already passed their qualifying examination or who have appeared /appearing for the annual examination in 2004 only are eligible for the AUCET. Candidates passed in instant/supplementary examinations of 2004 are not eligible.

4. The eligibility criteria for various Tests/Courses is given in Appendix I. And,

* 1) In view of the policy decision taken by the higher academic bodies i.e., Academic Senate and Executive Council, a student admitted to any course of study shall be allowed admission to vertical courses of study only i.e., the graduates are entitled for admission into post-graduation course and post-graduates are entitled for admission into M.Phil / Ph.D programs in the concerned courses only. No downward or horizontal movement shall be allowed. 2) The student may choose any of the professional courses only after Bachelors degree and not after obtaining Masters degree or Doctoral degree in the University. 3) As per the decision of the Academic Senate and the Executive Council, a student who discontinued after admission is not entitled for admission in any other courses.

* the students who desire to study another Post Graduate or Professional course may pursue the same through Distance Mode to use the facilities equally, equitably and fairly.

* the student shall be allowed to do one degree through regular study (one U.G./one P.G.) giving way to others to use the facilities equally, equitably and fairly.

* Candidates possessing B.Ed. Degree or studying B.Ed. course (regular or through Distance Mode) are eligible for only M.Ed. Test (Test No. 23). These candidates are not eligible for any other test in AUCET-2004. They can however pursue P.G. courses through School of Distance Education of Andhra University, subject to eligibility.

* Candidates possessing B.L. Degree or studying B.L. course are eligible for Human Rights & Duties (Test No. 27) and Criminal Justice (Test No. 46). These candidates are not eligible for any other test in AUCET-2004. Candidates possessing B.L. Degree, after joining any one of the above two courses can not pursue any regular P.G. course subsequently. They can however pursue P.G. courses through School of Distance Education of Andhra University, subject to illegibility.

* Candidates who have completed or are studying one year P.G. Diploma after qualifying degree are eligible for AUCET-2004. Candidates who have completed two one year P.G. Diplomas after graduation are not eligible for AUCET-2004.

* The candidates from other recognised universities are considered for admission only if they possess a three year Bachelor Degree of 10+2+3 or 12+3 or 11+1+3 pattern, with the prescribed minimum percentage of marks, unless otherwise specified.

* The eligibility criteria in the Appendix -I is with reference to the Common Core Scheme offered by Andhra University. Where part II of a degree of other Universities do not have subjects of equal weightage, the subject enjoying the highest weightage shall be considered as the main, for the purpose of deciding the eligibility. Wherever the Bachelor's Degree i.e.B.A./ B.Com. / B.Sc./B.A.L./B.B.M./B.C.A. etc. are given, they should be from Andhra University or recognised by Andhra University as equivalent thereto.

5. The requirement for admission into all Science Courses offered by Andhra University is a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Group Subjects (Part II) in the qualifying examination. For SC and ST candidates, a minimum aggregate of 45% marks in the group subjects (Part II) is sufficient.

6. The requirement for Arts and Commerce courses is generally a pass in the appropriate qualifying examination, unless and otherwise specified. However, the requirement of admission into M.A./M.Sc. Quantitative Economics and M.Sc. Anthropology courses, is a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in group subjects (Part-II) in the qualifying examination. For SC& ST candidates, a minimum aggregate of 45% marks in the group subjects (Part-II) is sufficient.

7. Allowing a candidate for AUCET does not guarantee a right of admission into the course of study. A candidate must satisfy the admission criteria. Candidates allowed to take the entrance test and subsequently getting seats by furnishing false information are liable for prosecution and cancellation of seats without notice. The decision of the admitting authority is final.

8. Candidates are advised to go through the information brochure carefully and claim admission under the appropriate categories of reservation by ticking in the relevant boxes in the application form. Requests for inclusion or change of category(ies) once claimed will not be entertained under any circumstances. The applications will be processed as per the claims of the candidates only and the admissions will be subject to the validity of their claims.
